On the weekend of June 22-23, 2024, young adults across the Archdiocese of Toronto came together at Martyrs' Shrine in Midland, Ont. for their first ever Spiritus Ministry Retreat: Reawaken. Over 80 participants from all walks of life gathered to attend a weekend of encounter with the Lord. This was an opportunity to retreat away from our secular world and the busyness of everyday life, to disconnect from the outside noise and find the silence and hear what God is calling them to next.

The retreat facilitators provided insight on imitating the life of the martyrs, vocational discernment, and discovering our charisms. The Sisters of Life graciously gave up their time and accompanied the attendees for the weekend, helping them deepen their prayer life. Fr. Gregory Carruthers from St. Augustine's Seminary spoke on the various seeds to increase devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the shrine’s own Fr. John O’Brien spoke about on how to use Ignatian Spirituality to discern God’s will.

Being on the grounds of the holy Canadian Martyrs was incredibly special for the retreatants as they were able to look past the rain and praise God for His goodness, mercy and awesome wonder! This sanctifying weekend provided ample of time to reflect, grow strong in their faith and most importantly be with Jesus.
